Today was my daughters first and last visit. Highly recommend anyone seeking dental services to please do your research in reviewing these reviews. I can honestly see why some experiences have been pleasant and some have been not so pleasant. Considering this was our first I am in aww in the rude attitude of the dental assistant during todays visit.

Dr. Huang is the best. Listens, gentle, helpful and friendly. Same as hygienist Jaron.
Office staff is always pleasant and helpful.
My family has been coming here for almost 20 years, even when I had to drive an hour to get here.
When my daughter needed braces, she needed several baby teeth extracted, Dr. Huang was great! At first I was nervous about not going back with her but she did great and wasn't upset at all. They explained most kids get upset when their parents do and they're so right.
She's 25 now and still comes to this office.
I never have an issue with appointments or referrals.
Cannot recommend enough.

The sweetest staff and providers I've experienced. Everyone is great with my 3 yr old who tends to be really loud when he comes in. I am also appreciative of them allowing me to come to the back with my son. Some providers want the child to get their cleanings with the parent in the waiting area.

I love how reassuring everyone is- My kiddo started to shed baby teeth early (he was an early teether; before 4 months old) so was told this was wnl- and I was given parameters for when to call/schedule. I also love that they see adults too. I'm pretty excited to schedule for myself.

I have been going to Southgate Dental for several years, and have brought my two young children there for the past two years. I have never had an issue with the dental care. However, a recent bad experience with the staff will lead me to choose another practice for my family.

I made appointments for cleanings for my two children (ages 4 and 2) several weeks in advance. Less than 24 hours before our appointments, I was called (three times) by different staff members, and ultimately our appointments were cancelled by the office staff, because it was inconvenient for them to see us at our scheduled time. There was no emergency (medical or otherwise) causing the cancellation; it was simply not convenient for them to keep our originally appointments. I emailed the office (see below), and no one has responded.

To whom it may concern:

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with how a situation was handled today.

I was contacted today and asked if I could reschedule appointments for my two children. The appointments were originally scheduled for 9:00 AM tomorrow. I made these appointments several weeks ago. I was asked if I could reschedule for the afternoon, to which I replied that I could not.
A few minutes later, I received another call from your office from a different staff member. She explained that the morning schedule for tomorrow had “fallen apart,” that there were no appointments after ours until later in the day, leaving a big gap in the doctor’s schedule, and that they would “have to push me to the afternoon.” I again explained that this did not work for us, and asked, “So, basically, the doctor does not want to come in for our appointments tomorrow morning?” And was told, “Well, yeah, because then there would be a big gap in the schedule.”

I was speechless at the time, so I declined to make other appointments and hung up the phone.

I am physician who works full time, and I also have three young children. If some emergency (personal or otherwise) had come up, making it impossible for my children to be seen by their dentist tomorrow, I would completely understand. However, it is completely unprofessional of your office, and disrespectful of my time, to call less than 24 hours before our appointments (which have been scheduled for weeks), and insist that I reschedule because it is inconvenient for the dentist. I must carefully plan my own schedule to ensure that my children are able to make it to all of their appointments, and the time I took off from work for tomorrow was scheduled far in advance. Although I think it was reasonable of the office to call and ask if I could reschedule, it is completely inexcusable to not accommodate me for our appointments after I told you that I cannot change the time, simply for your own convenience. I would never treat my own patients in this manner.

I will not be returning to this office for my children's dental care, or for my own (I am a patient of Dr. Huang’s), and I will not recommend this practice to anyone.
